Location Report

Location Report.

All Science Laboratory Scene – Filmed in the science blocks at St. Anne’s Catholic School For Girls
6 Oakthorpe Road
Palmers Green
London
N13 5TY

Pros: Filming it in an actual science laboratory would look really good and effective because it would make the film look much more realistic than if it was just in a normal room that doesn’t look like a lab.

Cons: we have to make sure that there is no lesson there, we might hear people from the playground, and we might also hear people in the corridor so it would be a bit hard to be fully focused on the scene.

Man Showing his bruises and starting to feel sick & show signs of zombification. – Filmed in A house

41 Milton road
Tottenham
London
N15 3DS

Pros – Having the scene at one of our houses makes it a lot easier to be able to shoot the scene multiple times and get exactly the effect that we want, also we know what room would have best lighting and the best scenery for the mood to be right.

Con: We might forget to take off something personal for example a picture on the wall that would show this isn’t the man’s home but actually one of ours. Also the dog might be barking and this would ruin the shot.

Film Treatment

This is my partner and I's film treatment, we have come up with this idea but we have tried to keep it brief so that not a lot of the plot is given away, we have put in the main ideas and briefly explained what will happen.

Horror Mood Board

This is my mood board, i added pictures of the type of genre that i have chosen to base my film opening on.
i added lots of blood and red and black because this really captures what it is all about.
this will help me think about exactly what i want my opening to have in it.
I have included some annotations which i think will explain the reasons behind what is on my mood board a lot better and in more detail.

Film Genres

Survey on Target Audience.

This is a survey I have done on thriller movies, This is the template. This survey is to help me see what type of films my peers like and what would be the best type of film to make based on the popularity of that genre. With the information that I gained I am going to produce a pie chart and post it onto my blog too.

Preliminary task with Rahab,Kia,Briony and Myself.

Preliminary task with Rahab,Kia,Briony and Myself.

Here we had to film a scene so that we could get our filming and editing skills better. Kia and myself took turns filming and we all edited it together seeing where each bit fit together well. We had to follow the 180 rule where we could only film within a certain space.

We put this on YouTube and Facebook and got some feed back
The feedback tells us that we need to try some new angles and overall we will add different angles and make everything more interesting when making our actual piece, this was interesting to see because our peers liked our work, also we will try and make our editing a lot sharper and more professional so we can get the best work possible.

Film Deconstruction - Easy A

I have deconstructed a film opening, the film I chose to do was Easy A, I timed when each title came on and put it all on a timeline, as you can see in the picture above I set it out as in, the time it came on, then T1 for title 1 & so on, and then the actual title shown. I also included the song that was played in the background. This exercise could help me to figure out how to set up my own film opening and when and where to put each title.
After watching a couple film openings i have notices that the directors name is usually at the end, i did some research into why this is and i have come up with an answer that i saw in many of the social related articles i read, most people say that the reason for this is because the directors name is the first this you see right before the film begins, this means everyone would be settled and watching closely so they would remember his/her name easily. Also the directors name is the first one you see once the film has ended, this is also because usually people do not watch the ending credits all the way to the end, it is about establishing who is responsible for the movie in a memorable way and this is exactly what it does.
They also do this throughout the opening with the other titles, some are left on for longer than others and some are joint together with other titles.
In this film in particular the main actress, Emma Stone comes in near the end and her name is placed just underneath her in a moving image, we get to see a bit of the actress' character in the film but see her real name up on the screen.

In my opinion I think this is a very effective method because in other openings you dont always see the actors face so its a lot easier to actually see them as then if you like their acting you can remeber their name and search for other films which this actor is in.
