Animatic for my film escaped
This is our animatic for our film escaped, it is our ideas on what we are going to film, we have the pictures drawn out and we have put in the sound of the dialogue that we will be using in the scenes.
We put the animation on two social websites, Facebook & YouTube, we decided to do this as our film is aimed towards younger people and we have these young people on these social websites. The feed back we got from them was that the audio could have been a bit better as there was quite a bit of silence during each image. This is what my partner and I would have changed if we were to do this again.

1st raw cut draft of our film
This is our first shoot. My partner and I feel that this is not as strong as it could be. As it is our opening scene we need to captivate our audience right from the start of the film and we feel that this opening does not do that. To improve our opening scene I think we need to use a wider range of camera shots and have better lighting. Also we are going to make the scene more interesting by tweaking the scene a little bit so it seems a lot more exciting

Title Update.
INFECTED
We have decided to change our film's title, we have decided to change it to INFECTED as we beleve that this would be a more suitable name for it. We have also decided to change it to INFECTED as we looked at some of Alfred Hitchcocks movies and most of his titles are very simple and obvious so we took inspiration from that and came up with the name INFECTED.

Analysis of Survey on Target Audience.
Analysis of survey on Target Audience.
As I have shown you before, i have done a survey on some of my peers to see what kind of films they are into and why, this was so that i would know if my own film opening would have a audience which actually liked what I am planning to do.
Seven out of 10 people were 16-18 the other three were 18-21
Half of each of these 10 were male and the other half were female.
4 of them preferred psychological thrillers 3 of them preffered crime thrillers, and the rest prefferred horror thrillers, most people said they liked these types because they really make them jumpy and feel like they are the ones in the actual film.
This survey gave me lots of the knowledge that i needed for my own success in creating my own film opening, this is because i found out what people like and why and i also found that they all varied in age so that means that my film opening would have a wide range of audience that would want to watch it.
I decided to put the information in a graph form so that it would be easier to see, i left out the longer questions like why and other things such as relationship status because i didnt think it would be beneficial for this particular survey.
My partner and I should involve some more aspects of psychological thriller films into our opening since, from our survey, we know that this is the type of thriller film people enjoy.
From our survey we also know that our main audience is 16-18 year olds, this makes it easy for us to think of ideas that they would enjoy as we are the same age and mostly like the same thing.
We had an equal number of male and female people who completed or surveys. I think our film is quite good and would attract a lot of attention as the people who we have asked seem excited and interested,If our survey results showed that the audience was mostly males We could change it to make everything more bloody and gory as stereotypically males enjoy that type of film, whereas if it were the other way round and we had more females interested we would incorporate things that females enjoy.
Storyboard.
This is My Partner and I's Storyboard of our film opening. each scene is drawn out and the dialogue that will be used is in the comments box beside it, we also included the edits and the length of time that each scene is going to be on the screen for. We also put in the camera shots that are going to be used, this was our first storyboard, if we change anything we will add to it or start a new one.
Film Treatment feedback & analysis.
Film Treatment Feedback.
My Partner and I have been around to our friends and they have read our film treatment and have given us some useful feedback about what their initial thoughts are to our work.
We have got feedback from one of the actors, Heaven Yohannes(aged 16).
This is what she said:I think this film opening seems really exciting and the way that youve described it has really made me want to watch it, im so happy i have a part to play in it because i feel like its going to be so much fun to make and then be able to watch it, your ideas are really cool and sound really professional, i think both of you could make this into a really exciting piece of work and i know im excited to see the end piece!
We then asked another one of our friends Yulieth Ortiz (aged 21).
This is what she said:
I am really looking forward to seeing what this piece of work is going to look like, it seems really interesting and the fact that you didnt tell us exactly what is going to happen in your treatment is such a good idea because now i just want to know what it is that happens. Im really looking forward to seeing it.
Analysis
Overall I think this feedback was a really good thing to gt because it made me feel like the project im working on is actually interesting to some people, althought everyone may not like the genre they are stil excited to see what the final outcome is going to be and this really makes me feel excited and motivated to work on it more and more. I Think that the feedback could have been moe useful if they perhaps had told me what they dont like but my teacher usually gives us constructive critisism so thats where we know where to change things and where we are going wrong. Also i noticed that although both of the girls who gave me feedback have a difference in age they both seem to be excited about the film opening so this shows that it has got quite a wide audience base that would like to see it.

NEW Casting Notes
This is our casting notes and these are the actors that we have decided to use, we think that they would fit well with the roles they have to play. We have included their name, age, ethnicity and height.
Volunteer/Infected Person
Sharon Ortiz
Age: 17
Height: 4'11
Ethnicity:
Latina
Sharon Ortiz
currently attends Bodens performing classes on the weekends. She has studied drama
for the last 5 years; this has given her a great deal of experience as she has
performed in numerous school productions and musicals. We feel that with her
experience she would be a great asset to our cast and bring a lot to her role.
Doctor
Name: Serena
Matthews
Age: 17
Height: 5'5
Ethnicity: Jamaican
Serena Matthews is also a very reliable person and she knows the rest of the cast also, she is able to act and as we know her very well we know she will participate to the best of her ability, she would be able to act the role of a Doctor because she has taken biology so she knows about the body and about how she would need to act in a laboratory, this would benefit the rest of our cast as she could guide them and tell them how to act in the lab scenes.
Overall we have used these actors because we believe they could be the type that the audience can relate to and enjoy watching. We believe that these actors are really talented and this is why we have used them. This is crucial for our piece to be enjoyable and also i believe that it would be good that they all know each other because they wouldnt need to be introduced or be awkward in any of the scenes due to not knowing each other. also they all have a close friendship so the scenes would flow very well.

Location Report
Location Report.
All Science Laboratory Scene – Filmed in the science blocks
at St. Anne’s Catholic School For Girls
6 Oakthorpe Road

Palmers Green

London

|
Pros: Filming it in an actual science laboratory would look
really good and effective because it would make the film look much more
realistic than if it was just in a normal room that doesn’t look like a lab.
Cons: we have to make sure that there is no lesson there, we
might hear people from the playground, and we might also hear people in the
corridor so it would be a bit hard to be fully focused on the scene.
Man Showing his bruises and starting to feel sick & show
signs of zombification. – Filmed in A house
41 Milton road

Tottenham

London

N15 3DS
|
Pros – Having the scene at one of our houses makes it a lot
easier to be able to shoot the scene multiple times and get exactly the effect
that we want, also we know what room would have best lighting and the best
scenery for the mood to be right.
Con: We might forget to take off something personal for
example a picture on the wall that would show this isn’t the man’s home but
actually one of ours. Also the dog might be barking and this would ruin the
shot.
Film Treatment
This is my partner and I's film treatment, we have come up with this idea but we have tried to keep it brief so that not a lot of the plot is given away, we have put in the main ideas and briefly explained what will happen.

Horror Mood Board
This is my mood board, i added pictures of the type of genre that i have chosen to base my film opening on.
i added lots of blood and red and black because this really captures what it is all about.
this will help me think about exactly what i want my opening to have in it.
I have included some annotations which i think will explain the reasons behind what is on my mood board a lot better and in more detail.

Survey on Target Audience.
This is a survey I have done on thriller movies, This is the template. This survey is to help me see what type of films my peers like and what would be the best type of film to make based on the popularity of that genre. With the information that I gained I am going to produce a pie chart and post it onto my blog too.
Preliminary task with Rahab,Kia,Briony and Myself.
Preliminary task with Rahab,Kia,Briony and Myself.
Here we had to film a scene so that we could get our filming and editing skills better. Kia and myself took turns filming and we all edited it together seeing where each bit fit together well. We had to follow the 180 rule where we could only film within a certain space.
We put this on YouTube and Facebook and got some feed back
The feedback tells us that we need to try some new angles and overall we will add different angles and make everything more interesting when making our actual piece, this was interesting to see because our peers liked our work, also we will try and make our editing a lot sharper and more professional so we can get the best work possible.
Film Deconstruction - Easy A
I have deconstructed a film opening, the film I chose to do was Easy A, I timed when each title came on and put it all on a timeline, as you can see in the picture above I set it out as in, the time it came on, then T1 for title 1 & so on, and then the actual title shown. I also included the song that was played in the background. This exercise could help me to figure out how to set up my own film opening and when and where to put each title.
After watching a couple film openings i have notices that the directors name is usually at the end, i did some research into why this is and i have come up with an answer that i saw in many of the social related articles i read, most people say that the reason for this is because the directors name is the first this you see right before the film begins, this means everyone would be settled and watching closely so they would remember his/her name easily. Also the directors name is the first one you see once the film has ended, this is also because usually people do not watch the ending credits all the way to the end, it is about establishing who is responsible for the movie in a memorable way and this is exactly what it does.
They also do this throughout the opening with the other titles, some are left on for longer than others and some are joint together with other titles.
In this film in particular the main actress, Emma Stone comes in near the end and her name is placed just underneath her in a moving image, we get to see a bit of the actress' character in the film but see her real name up on the screen.

In my opinion I think this is a very effective method because in other openings you dont always see the actors face so its a lot easier to actually see them as then if you like their acting you can remeber their name and search for other films which this actor is in.

thriller prezi
Our task was to do some research on the thriller genre and other subgenres that fit into the thriller scene, i have included a lot of information, some video clips and some pctures to really give the full range of explanations and information about thrillers.
In future i would add better information and add different links that the viewers could link to to give them even more info so they can really get all the knowledge that they needed.
